There is always Hope

Are you feeling overwhelmed, run down, perhaps lonely, abandoned, neglected, ashamed? I hope you will be encouraged today.  Maybe you are having problems with your significant other, husband, boyfriend, child's father, parents, maybe that person has hurt you one last time. Let go of the anger, it is just like poison. He who angers you conquers you.  ~Elizabeth Kenny  There is One greater than all the hurt in the world and He says
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."  Can you grasp that?  If He knew you before you even existed then He cares for you and all that concerns you, even now.

Hair accessories for orphan girls

I recently ran into information on beads braid beyond on FB about collecting hair accessories for orphan girls in Uganda, apparently there are some nice people going through an organization called Visiting Orphans .  I have dedicated my time this weekend to making rosettes for these beautiful girls so I can get them out next week before the May 27th deadline.  For more information please visit Elisa Hyman on her blog. Please help if you can.  You can send gently used hair accessories too.

Wordless Wednesday: Introducing Baby S.

Allow me to introduce our little princess, a.k.a Baby S, a.k.a bambino.  Here is a little hair flower I just made for her, I think she looks darling with it on, I know I'm biased :), I just can't help myself with this sweet angel.

What is leadership?

How many of us have worked with "leaders"/ managers  from you know what.  I used to find myself wondering far too many times if some people that I worked under ever attended any leadership training, I mean just a 30minute session would suffice compared to the torture the followers had to endure.  I really enjoyed these quotes shared by John Maxwell on his site.  Check them out.

Two of my favorite are
"Nothing can happen through you until it happens to you, and you can only communicate what you’re in the process of rediscovering". –Lloyd John Ogilvie

"Some leaders feel that by keeping people in the dark, they maintain a measure of control. But that is a leader’s folly and an organization’s failure. Secrecy spawns isolation, not success. Knowledge is power, yes, but what leaders need is collective power, and that requires collective knowledge. I found that the more people knew what the goals were, the better buy-in I got – and the better results we achieved together". –Mike Abrashoff

What are your thoughts about leadership?

Motherhood and crafting

Motherhood is a joy however things can get overwhelming fast.  These are times when you truly realize, you are only one person and despite your best efforts or wishes, you've got only 2 hands to complete all the tasks being thrown at you.
I often find many ideas running through my head that I can't implement because motherhood calls.  Now I have re-evaluated my time management skills.  I make an effort to work on at least one thing towards my Etsy shop daily, it could be photography for my products or actually crafting those products, there have been times when this had to take place in the middle of the night, after a feeding :).
Sometimes I write those ideas down as they come flooding through my head or I draw them.  It seems to be working out well so far, allowing myself to go with the flow and not get frustrated that I can't get things done.

My personality type likes to get things done with as little to no interruptions, however, I have resolved that there may be days that I don't accomplish as much as I would have liked to, but then there is also the next day to get those things done.  This short post was interrupted 3 times before completion, oh the joys and pains of motherhood :-) gone are those days when things go according to plan most of the time.
I still wouldn't trade my now 5month old bambino for anything in the world!

African wax fabric

I'm crazy about the vast array of African fabric.  Who knew  it had so much history and that a lot of the designs actually tell a story.  I love color and these fabrics have just got it, from subtle to bold, for more on the history check out this link http://www.congostory.org/fabric

Baby sleeping through the night

I had such a great night last night why? you may ask.  Baby S actually slept for 5 hours straight! (which is technically sleeping through the night in baby-land) oh my! This is a major accomplishment because she is exclusively breast fed.  Those that are familiar with this would recognize that EBF babies usually just last an average of 2hours after which they have to be fed again. I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the world lol.  She has also fed an average of 3hours today instead of two, I really hope she keeps this up, my fingers are crossed lol
