Fabric flower tutorial

I don't know about you, but I am OBSESSED with flowers, fabric flowers, beaded flowers, paper mache flowers, you name it, I love it.  This is what I made for Baby S this weekend and of course girls of all ages can wear it too :)  I will be adding more tutorials in the near future, so please come back if you are just as obsessed as I am :) Enjoy!

Materials:
Fabric
scissors
piece of felt in a coordinating color
needle and coordinating thread
alligator clip

brooch pin (optional)
headband (optional)
button
loaded glue gun

1. Cut out the 6 large and 6 medium circles in your chosen fabrics.  I used two fabrics here but the possibilities are endless, its up to you.

2. Cut a medium sized circle piece of felt.  Fold each of the large circles in half and then in half again and lay them on your cut out felt, overlapping them as shown below.  With needle and thread at the center, sew through the first layer and then the second layer, to secure the flower petals and hold everything together.  Leave the thread intact, do not clip it yet.

3. Use the same thread you used in step 2, attach button to the center of the flower, then clip the thread.

4. Secure the brooch pin, I used hot glue but you can sew it on.  Cut another piece of felt, apply the hot glue and attach as in the picture below.

5.  You are done! yayyyy!  :)  Attach as a brooch, hair clip or headband to your lovely one.

Reflecting on the loss of a loved one

Its not fair, you died too young, all the memories we could have shared, it made for quite a boring and lonely childhood without you.  I'm wondering who you'd be today.  Would we call each other almost everyday? would we share secrets, happy family times?  what would you have named my nieces and nephews.  I miss having my big sister in my life.  Where would you be? where would you work? live? who would you be married to? Its been 19years but then it only feels like yesterday, you would have been 33 now.  If I knew that day was going to be the last time, maybe I would have hugged you a little tighter, made you stay home with me. Mom and dad still miss you.  I miss you!

Are you too busy?

I came across this article today, link below and it got me thinking. Its a good reminder on how to work smart, prioritize in life, have goals and how to accomplish them when you are actually physically able to do so. We often plan for retirement, but who knows what the future holds, live now! Happy Thursday :~)

Are you too busy?

Avocado and Cucumber facial

I believe in women pampering themselves.  We work too hard and hardly play enough, can I get an Amen! lol
I strongly believe in using natural products that we can simply get from the grocery store free of harmful chemicals.  You can give yourself a nice soothing facial right in your own home. Avocado has moisturizing and anti-aging properties.  Moving right along to the mask, you will need
1/2 of a medium avocado, 2 cucumber slices, 1 tbsp honey, raw egg white (honey and egg white may be left out)

Cut the avocado in half, remove the seed, remove the skin of the half that will be used, mash together with the honey and egg white.
Tie your hair back ( you don't want to get the avocado in it do you? lol
Apply a warm wash cloth on the face to open the pores
Apply the avocado mixture to the face except the eyes
Place one slice of cucumber on each eye- (heal those puffy eyes along the way)
Ain't you feeling relaxed already from just reading this?
leave on for about 20 minutes
Wash with warm water, then cold water to close the pores, pat dry and you are done!

Let me know how this works out for you or any other natural remedies you may have tried.
