Keepsakes

I really believe in keep-sakes.  I plan on making some necklaces out of Baby S's clothes, some of the perks of having a baby girl , I guess :), it makes it that much harder to let somethings go due to cuteness overload.  I also plan on making a Baby S 1st shoes in a box frame.  I found something similar here to give you an idea
first (soft) shoe picture girl

so I was reading about a woman that makes quilts and I thought it was an amazing story.  For instance Her two most recent quilts are particularly interesting. They started out as 35+ button-down men’s shirts, given to Ludwig by a woman whose husband had passed away years before. She wanted her grandchildren to have a piece of the grandfather they had never met and commissioned Patwig to turn his shirts into the Nine Patch and Log Cabin quilts.  How sweet?  you can read more about it here

How do keep the items that you can't let go of, would you rather store them away, or recycle them into   items that you can continue to use? Let us know in the comments

Poisoning kids? really?

You probably already heard about the apple juice saga created by Dr. Oz regarding arsenic (a heavy metal known to cause cancer) in apple juice.
I'm curious to know what your thoughts are, here are my thoughts
I totally see where Dr Oz is coming from, although I'm usually careful and vigilant, I don't see myself as the paranoid or easily flustered type.  However, I choose to take this research/allegations seriously especially since the juice companies refused to defend themselves initially when invited by Dr. Oz.
My biggest issue is arsenic which occurs organically and in inorganic forms is regulated in the US, now why on earth would they allow produce from anywhere where there are no such regulations.  Its ludicrous!  I often wonder what the root of all the diagnoses in children are coming from leukemia, ADHD, autism etc Could it be from the foods we are feeding our children?
Apparently American apple juice is made from apple concentrate, 60% of which is imported from China.  Anyways, apple juice is off the table in my home.  What are your thoughts and what steps have you taken.  Do you still give your children apple juice? do you still drink apple juice?

You can read more about the story here

New Series: Gratitude Fridays

I listened to a message in church last Sunday that got me thinking, I mean really really thinking.  I've not been doing a good job on reflecting on the little and sometimes big things that happen in my life from day to day.  I find that I get caught up in my day to day activities that I don't take the time out to reflect.  In order to "force" myself to do this as I deem it necessary,  I decided to start this series as a means to share the best thing that happened to me each week/what I'm grateful for each week. It would mean so much to me if you shared yours with me as well.  Nothing is too big, too small. There no rules, it could be one thing, multiple things, anything :)

This week I'm grateful for a husband that loves me and takes very good care of me in more ways than I can even begin to mention
For great sales in and outside of my Etsy shop
For my healthy children, my baby turning 8months and her intriguing milestones

You Will Receive More To Be Grateful For." -Chuck Danes
